SO! Like it or not WE ALL have days when we wake up and say WHO THE HECK IS THAT in the mirror looking back at me??!!

Today was one of those days for me :( my eyes are swollen from lack of sleep and allergy issues. My fatigue is seriously showing and my skin is just lifeless!!

SO…What can you do when you have a day like that and you aren’t prepared to give yourself a HUGE make-over? Here is what I did and it took about 3 minutes no joke.

1. Apply a BB cream or tinted moisturizer to your face. I used Garnier SKIN RENEW BB cream but I also love Origins Vitazing.

2. Conceal your under eye area to help hide your fatigue. Make sure to get the inner corner of your eye and a touch on your lids too.

3. Blush- I used Tarte Natural Cheek Stain in True Love. A stain will look more natural and last longer. It will also have a fresh dewy finish instead of a powdery one.

4. Sweep some highlighter on your cheek bones and down the center of your face to give a soft glow that makes your face pop

5. Line your lips with a fresh colored liner wither a pink or peach and then top with a little gloss. I used Lancome liner in Alpine Glow and L’Oreal Infallible Gloss in Posy

6. Set your conceal with a little powder I used L’Oreal Visible Lift Serum Absolute because I am loving its luminous finish, it isn’t too matte and I also love that it has an anti-aging treatment in it.

I didn’t even conceal any of my blemishes today I was going for no make-up make-up look. I didn’t want to go run my errands looking half dead but I just didn’t have time to do full make-up.

This is a look that works for anyone, it’s you only better :)

Try this and let me know what you think ladies!

Sending you a restful night of beauty sleep

I am super excited about the L’Oreal The Next Beauty Guru Competition! I kinda missed what was going on and when it started because I have been away from my computer while we were house hunting and getting settled after our recent move. I was thrilled to see Kandee Johnson post on her blog this past weekend about it and I immediately began working on my submission ideas!

If you missed the first one, it was posted yesterday and is on my blog, my youtube channel and on youtube.com/destinationbeauty under the gallery for the competition. Revlon Photoready Concealer in Light
L’Oreal Visible Lift Serum Absolute Powder in Medium

Highlighting, highlighting, highlighting it’s a trick that most people do not use in their daily make-up routine. I ALWAYS use highlighter, it’s a fast simple step that makes your skin look fresh, bright and basically like a spotlight is following you around all day-who doesn’t want that?

Here are my best tricks to getting fresh lively skin:

1. Use an illuminating primer or moisturizer to start
Simply prime your skin with all over soft shimmer to make your skin look alive. My top three are:

Smashbox Artificial Light-this product is great because it comes in three colors. Glow, a tanned color. Diffuse, a silvery pale color. Flash, a pink/blue tone reflective color (my favorite). ($26.99)

No 7 Highlights Illuminating Lotion-this product is light pink with silvery tones. It is great to mix with your face lotion and can also be used as a cream highlighter ($12.99)

L’Oreal Magic Lumi-this product is one of my newest finds. This is the closest dupe I have found for Smashbox Artificial Light in Flash but honestly I actually like it much more. I feel angelic in this primer and usually use it with just a little concealer to keep my glow intact. ($12.99)

2. Use a mineral powder
(if you use powder). Mineral powders have much more glow factor to them than regular powders that can sometimes remove all the natural glow from your skin. My favorites are:

Mac Mineralized Skin Finish ($29.00)

Avon Smooth Minerals ($12.00)

Bare Minerals Powder Foundation ($29.00)

3. Highlight the Cheek Bones and right down the center of the face with a powder highlighter.

My favs are:

Physician’s Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls-this product comes in four colors but my absolute favorite is Translucent Pearl. I couldn’t live without this product! ($13.95)

Benefit High Beam– This is a cream highlighter that blends easily. ($26.00)

Bare Minerals Rose Gossamer– This is a pink toned highlighter that I have used for years. Bare Minerals has loads of colors to chose from but this one is my favorite. ($45.00 with kabuki brush)

I hope this run down will encourage you to try highlighting your beautiful faces! Let me know what you think of your skin highlighted vs not.

Happy Highlighting loves!

Is your hair treating you badly? Is it refusing to do what it should be doing given the amount of time you are spending on it? Yep, I’ve been there…your hair is screaming for a serious deep conditioning but don’t run out to the drugstore to grab a new conditioner. Use what you have at home to create a hair mask that will rejuvenate your hair and make it play nice again. It’s simple and effective.

Take 1/2 the amount of conditioner you usually use

Substitute the other half with Olive Oil (I like Extra Virgin Cold Pressed)

Mix together and apply to towel dried hair after washing (so you don’t trap any product or yucky residue on your hair)

I leave this mixture on overnight or all day on a Sunday leaving my hair in slicked back a low bun for the time I have it on my hair.

Then shampoo and condition as usual and your hair will be much more responsive to your requests :)

Have you tried this? What were your results? Do you have a DIY hair treament you want to share with us?

To luscious moisturized locks and multiple hairgasms…

For those of you that have been hiding under a rock the “Yes to” brand is a natural, mostly organic brand of skin and hair products that contain no parabens and are totally amazing!

I first started using the “Yes to” line when I was pregnant with my little Alistair and I was ordering from a lot of all natural companies so I could keep my chemical exposure to a minimum. I got a two samples in my order. One was a “Yes to Tomatoes” face cream and the other was a “Yes to Cucumber” eye gel.” I very, rarely buy something after trying a sample because often from one or two uses you just cannot tell if you really like it enough but from just a few uses I was in love with the products. I still use the “Yes to Tomatoes face lotion” but I had never tried anything from the “Yes to Carrots line” until about 6 months ago.

I was looking for an all natural condition for Alistair because he kept getting little dreadlocks from moving his head in his carseat and stroller. The conditioner comes in a HUGE bottle for about $8.99 at Target and smells AH-mazing. It is super quality and much better than most of my fancy salon conditioners. In fact Ali and I both use it most days of the week. It also works great as a leave in conditioner. I put a pea sized amount on Ali’s hair after we rinse and I put a quarter sized amount on my ends if I need a moisture boost. The great thing is, it is so moisturizing without being heavy at all.

Three weeks ago I decided to try the “Yes to Carrots” facial cleaner and their make-up remover as well and I was in love! Not only does it have the same scent I am slightly obsessed with but the make-up remover works great and truly cleans my skin without drying out my skin. I follow it up with the skin cleaner as well to get extra clean and because the cleaner makes my skin feel so hydrated and pampered. The truth is in the skin darlings because after just one week I saw a huge difference in my Acne scaring and my cystic acne had completely disappeared. Something I was not expecting from a nourishing face care product but it was like it balanced out my skin and made it healthy again. This is why I must rave! The bonus of these great products is they come a huge bottles and a little goes a long way so the investment is SO worth it in the long run.

Have you tried anything from the “Yes to” line? What were your favorites? What was your experience with the product?

Nourishing skin and hair wishes just for you….
